The Affton Fire Protection District is a progressive organization delivering a wide variety of emergency and non-emergency services.  Emergency services include: fire suppression, advanced life support medical treatment and patient transportation, specialized rescue operations, and hazardous material incident mitigation.  Primary non-emergency services include: fire prevention inspections, public fire safety education programs, public CPR classes, and support of numerous community events.  The Affton Fire Protection District encourages a competitive application process in order to best serve the community.


Minimum requirements for the position are current Missouri EMT-P License, current ACLS and ITLS or its equivalent, graduate of the St. Louis County Fire Academy, Missouri State Certification in Firefighter 1 & 2, Hazardous Materials Awareness and Operations, and a current State Drivers License.

Application packets are available from the Administrative Offices of the Affton Fire Protection District located at 9282 Gravois Road during the hours of 9am to 4pm Monday - Friday.  Please include the following items with your application to be considered as a possible candidate for employment: Resume, signed waiver for the district to conduct a Missouri State Highway Patrol Criminal Records and Driving Records Review, copies of your EMT-P License, ACLS and ITLS Certificates plus Hazardous Materials Awareness and Operations Certificates from the State of Missouri Department of Fire Services, and any other certificates or licensures you would like to attach for consideration.  Applications on file remain current for 1 year from date of receipt.

Testing and Employment Process

The Firefighter/Paramedic Testing Process is conducted periodically as the need is dictated.  Applicant testing may consist of a Basic Firefighter Written Examination, Paramedic Written Examination and a Paramedic Practical Examination consisting of Medical, Trauma and Cardiac stations.
