Reserve
Program
The
Affton Fire Protection District Reserve program
currently has 33 members. As a member of the
Reserve Program, you help the Fire District provide
Fire, Rescue and EMS service to the community on a
volunteer basis.
Reserve
Trainees are required to complete a Basic Firefighting
Course with the Affton Fire Protection District,
comply with national standards of the National
Incident Management System, and meet a minimum
standard in Hazardous materials response.
Our
members gain valuable training and experience while
volunteering with us. Over the years many of our
former reserves have made a career out of the fire
service. Many have been hired by the District as
full time employees. Even more have been hired
by Fire Departments and Districts though out St. Louis
County, St. Charles County, Jefferson County and at
the City of the St. Louis.
Minimum
requirements for Reserve Program:

21
years old
-
have
a current state drivers license
-
complete
a Missouri Highway Patrol background check
-
pass
drug screen and physical
-
High
School diploma or equivalent
-
EMT
license preferred
Once
accepted into Reserve Program the Trainee/Volunteer
must:
-
complete
Basic Fire Fighter course (provided by the
District)
-
complete
NIMS ICS 100, 200, 700 and 800
-
complete
a Hazardous Materials Awareness Level Course
-
complete
Emergency Driving Course
-
perform
36 hours per month in twelve hour shifts; 8AM -
8PM or 8PM - 8AM
-
perform
6 hours certified training (provided by the
District) per quarter
-
provide
current phone number & set up g-mail for
scheduling and contact purposes
-
follow
all District rules and regulations, as well as
District SOP's
The
Reserve Program accepts applications all year long and
applications are kept on file for 1 year. As the
need arises to hire new reserves the process
starts. Typically a group of 10-12 reserves are
needed before a new class is formed.
